“I can’t believe how fast time is moving. I am already half way through my eight month commitment for the M.A.T.C.H. residency with Wave Pool and the welcome project. I have been spending my time building relationships in the Camp Washington community, specifically with the clients at Talbert House. At Talbert House, I have been working with people recovering from addiction to help them craft their stories of resilience in recovery, to be shared at Soup and Stories, each Thursday in June. In addition to my work with Talbert House clients, I have been working to plan additional community engagement activities throughout the remainder of my residency, with the goal of understanding how the Welcome project may best serve both the Camp Washington, and the broader Cincinnati community. My goal is to use arts based research methods to creatively engage the community.”
“My favorite part of my residency thus far, has been working with Talbert House clients. I am so impressed with their stories of personal growth and the ways in which they have embraced the 12 step program to maintain their sobriety. This commitment to a better life shows up in the way they are able to be vulnerable and honest when sharing their compelling stories. I am humbled by their resilience, perseverance, and commitment to living a sober life.”
