Rust Belt Fibershed ASYS Residency, One Year, One Outfit, 2023

Calling all Aspiring Curators!

Wave Pool offers emerging curators the opportunity to execute an exhibition in our main storefront gallery with mentorship and funding support to assist its success.

Beyond internships at local museums, the art industry is overwhelmingly lacking in opportunities for aspiring, up-and-coming curators. This program, which began in 2018, seeks to foster ongoing professional development for individuals with curatorial inclinations, in order to find their voice and gain valuable hands-on experience.

The Curatorial Residency program enables those in need of resume-building experience to pursue this kind of professional development, which is often only accessible to the privileged few. You can view our current and past Curatorial Residents here.

The 2025 Resident will receive:

·      a modest exhibition budget of $2,000

·      a curatorial honoraria of $500

·      mentorship

·      administrative support

·      marketing assistance

·      gallery space and installation assistance to fulfill bold visions

Forming new creative partnerships and engaging community residents through programming, our Curatorial Residents for 2024 serve Wave Pool’s mission: Pairing communities’ knowledge of their needs with artists’ sense of possibility.

The Wave Pool Curatorial Residency Program is decided by an Open Call and Jury process in the Fall of every year, after applications are submitted in the Summer. The Wave Pool Curatorial Residency Program is contingent upon fiscal 2025 budget approval. Fiscal 2025 budget approval is pending September 2025
