Please join us for a special night of film screenings with reknowned video artist Diane Teramana.

"As a welcome to Cincinnati for the Robert Mapplethorpe show,
I videotaped the opening at the Contemporary Arts Center. My husband Ty Castellarin was narrator. I named it The BruHaHa. Pleased by the response of the gallery attendees, I decided to take issue with the jerks that were trying to close down the show. As you might imagine, the city powers that be were furious. Revved after I finished editing, I decided to try curating another piece, Sins of the Flesh, which was screened thanks to an invitation from CAGE Gallery in Cincinnati. My intention with this piece was to show shameful work by important artists of major achievement. I researched current nation artists who don’t mind letting it “all hang out” and continued. CAGE screened this show not long after the Mapplethorpe opening. This work will be available for viewing before or after my screening. While it seems that censorship is lessening, thanks to the current rise of the right, artists need to be especially vigilant. "

As a Video Artist, Diane Teramana received numerous Fellowships, Grants, and Awards for her work, most notably a major media fellowship for her documentation of her son Aaron’s recovery from heroin. Unfortunately he died shortly after from an overdose. She was able to complete much of her best tapes at the Experimental Television Center. She is most proud of her performance work with Mickey Morgan (Mickey Dipped in the Black Stream)and Kiken Chin (Teramana’s Chin). Her work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and The Knitting Factory NYC. She lives and works in the Hudson Valley.
