Please join us for Erin Johnson's If it Won't Hold Water, it Surely Won't Hold a Goat, a performative lecture on goat farming, interspecies relationality, queer kin, institutional dysfunction, and Georgia's Goat Man. This is a companion piece to Johnson's video of the same name currently on view at Wave Pool as part of the exhibition Animal Magnetism.
Utilizing both historical and fictional narratives, Johnson's video, sound, and social practice works blur the lines between rehearsal and performance, real and imagined landscapes and borders, and perception, memory, and interpretation. These research-driven artworks evidence a fundamental situationality, shapeshifting depending on the collaborator, topic, and resources at hand. She received herMFA and Certificate in New Media from the University of California, Berkeley and is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Digital Media at Bowdoin College.
