Over the past 6 years, Wave Pool has consistently paired communities’ needs with artists’ sense of possibility, showing Cincinnati and beyond the potential social impact of artists in the community.
In 2021 we have some very exciting plans to continue and expand on this work. These plans include:
Expanding our Artist Professional Development program to include artist civic-residencies
Continuing to support our community through Socially Engaged Artists in Residence
Mentoring up and coming local curators through our Curatorial Residency program
Building on the momentum of our immigrant-run social enterprise, The Welcome Project to support our neighborhood through food and education access
The Not Just For Show Telethon and Variety Show showcases so much of what Wave Pool does - supporting artists and bringing people together creatively, even in a time when we can't all be physically together.
Please join us on September 25th and 26th, 2020 from 10am-10pm each day for a virtually streamed event featuring 24 hours of over 100 artists and performers sharing their talents as well as heartfelt testimonials from community members, peppered with fun and wacky games, fashion shows, cooking demos, and everything in between!
As a testament to our creative resiliency, due to COVID19 we have been more active than ever in supporting our communities when they need us the most. Here are a few quotes from involved community members:
"Thank you Wave Pool for gifting my brand with this opportunity to professional grow and help to myself as more than my old situations. Empowerment!" - Artist Relief Fund recipient and Driving Lessons class participant
"We appreciate the bags of fresh produce and the uplifting art. This program means so much to us right now. May Wave Pool always be there for Camp Washington and Cincinnati." - Camp Delivery recipient during COVID19 crisis
"You are an amazingly inspiring entity. You give me hope. I am really thankful to have been able to play a small part in a few of your beautiful projects." - local artist
Not Just For Show is being generously funded by Murray Sinclaire, Judy and Joe Williams, The Most Beautiful Thing In The World Is, Ombre Gallery, Mann and Mann Law, The Swing House, Sara Vance Waddell, and Morgan and Eddy Rigaud.
Help us continue our work into 2021 and beyond!
