An Italian invention of the 16th century, Art Salons were gatherings of people held by an inspiring host, with the aim of amusing and educating participants via conversation, food and drink.
Historically, art salons thrive during periods of fervent change and upheaval—acting as theaters of conversation and exchange within the public sphere for people to discuss and debate robust and nuanced topics.
For June’s talk, we will have Curators in Residence, Iman Jabrah and Noel Maghathe as well as a few artists, present to discuss the work in their exhibition, “Amid”, currently on view in Wave Pool’s gallery. The show encompasses sentiments from queer and women artists from Palestine and the diaspora.
FREE, open to the public, bring a friend and an open mind. We’ll have pretzels from Tall’s Bread and drinks available for purchase at The Welcome Project to help get the ball rolling!
