The Professional Practice: a business development conference for artists

  • The Art Academy of Cincinnati 1212 Jackson Street Cincinnati, OH, 45202 United States (map)

The Professional Practice is an artist professional development program that consists of an in-person, two-day conference at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. The curriculum is comprised of goal setting and skill building, to help artists reach their own self-determined measures for success.

From large envisioning to the nitty gritty, this course helps participants devise practical strategies for reaching new milestones in their lives and careers. Specifically, the intensive covers financial literacy skills, business management, goal setting, communications, negotiation, taxes, budgeting, marketing, and more.

This course also provides much needed network-building opportunities for artists; classrooms often become the place where long term friendships and allies are made and we give participants ample opportunities to foster these relationships.

Instructors include Calcagno Cullen, Mayra Jackson, Anissa Lewis, Morgan Rigaud, Maria Seda-Reeder, and Bryan Wight.

Classes will take place Saturday 2/18, 9 AM - 4 PM; Sunday 2/19, 11 AM - 4 PM, at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Breakfast as well as lunch will be provided.

The suggested donation for General Admission tickets is $100 but this course is pay-what-you can. If you are an ArtsWave grantee, please select a General Admission ticket and use your ArtsWave-provided code to receive FREE entry.
