In Summer 2019 Wave Pool co-founders were invited by Teple Misto to create a community project in Ivano-Frankivsk as part of the City Scanning Session 'Manu-Futuring'. In response to community concerns about algae in a local lake, Calcagno and Skip Cullen worked with local residents to find a natural and alternative solution to cleaning the lake while conducting a communal envisioning session for the future of their city.
The video above was displayed along with an interactive growing sculpture project for others to contribute during the three day festival. At the end of the festival the resulting barley sculpture was set adrift in the lake in front of community members with a poem made up of their future visioning statements.
