The Welcome Handbook

As part of the Fund to Foster Belonging Grant by Welcoming America, Wave Pool hosted monthly community building dinners where we focused on a different topic of concern and interest. Each dinner featured the food of a local chef and an interactive art piece by an artist who gathered community input, stories, and feedback regarding the topics at hand.

Additionally we had local officials and experts on the designated topic present at the dinners each month who assisted with identifying and sharing the resources provided within each chapter of the resulting Welcome Handbook.

The themes for the dinners were decided on based on community concerns voiced through online social channels, Camp Washington community council meetings, neighbor testimonials, and on-going community surveys that Wave Pool conducts.

Participants attend these dinners for the free food, to discuss the pertinent topics at hand, and to experience multi-cultural art making and food experiences.
